With the exception of those who has tats, those who are planning to have a tattoo including myself, should decide carefully, including but not limited to what was/will be the main reason why you want to have it on your body, if you’re planning to remove it afterwards then don’t undergo having it, also, think of where/what part of your body you need to get inked.
After you have considered the basics, the hygiene, the type of it, including the color (brown, white or colored tattoo) the price, the meaning behind it. Every tribe, generation and/or race has a legacy or reasons of having a tattoo. We can consider it a past and leave it behind or a legacy if we may call it deal with it. (Note: I didn’t mention the tolerance in pain, cause I consider females in general to have more tolerance to pain.) Why do I say deal with it, read on!
It is said that there are various meaning to/of a ‘tattoo’, ‘stigmata’, ‘moko’, ‘tatu’, ‘cicatrix’ or ‘mark’ as per Wiki it is considered ‘as rites of passage, marks of status and rank, symbols of religious and spiritual devotion, decorations for bravery, sexual lures and marks of fertility, pledges of love, punishment, mulets and talismans, protection, and as the marks of outcasts, slaves and convicts. The symbolism and impact of tattoos varies in different places and cultures. Tattoos may show how a person feels about a relative (commonly mother/father or daughter/son) or about an unrelated person. Today, people choose to be tattooed for artistic, cosmetic, sentimental/memorial, religious, and magical reasons, and to symbolize their belonging to or identification with particular groups, including criminal gangs (see criminal tattoos) or a particular ethnic group or law-abiding subculture.( Cosmetic, Functional, Medical ).’
If you never had tats before, my personal recommendation is not to have or if you have done it yet, not to have it anymore and you are not required to remove it, if you had it before having a deep relationship with God. Moreover, do not pass judgement to those who does it or who has it. Finally, the decision is between you and God.
The Bible says,
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here! NIV
But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin. NIV
“‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD. NIV
